Procurement, Travel, Land & Buildings

Addressing sustainability in each of these areas can have a substantial and direct effect on an organisation’s sustainability impacts. Click on one of the modules below to see how.

  • Procurement, supply chain & logistics - Every organisation procures goods and services to enable it to function effectively and to achieve its objectives. Procurement is a powerful tool for driving sustainability within an organisation and more widely by stimulating markets. This module looks at the key components required to develop a sustainable procurement process and examines common challenges encountered, including operating within legislative and financial constraints.
  • Staff travel - This module looks at how sustainability considerations should be built into travel plans, reducing the number of journeys made, encouraging the use of cycling, walking, public transport and car sharing and managing a sustainable vehicle fleet.
  • Construction & refurbishment - This module breaks the construction process down into its component parts and looks how sustainability should be taken into account at each of the following stages: land and buildings; design; planning; contracting; construction and use; refurbishment and rebuild; and end of life.
  • Managing land & buildings - Most organisations own or operate land and buildings from which they operate their business. This module looks at how sustainability should be built into the way in which these assets are managed, considering issues such as energy use, waste, water usage and biodiversity.
