Culture, Skills & People

The expectations and demands placed on organisations by their customers, regulators or the general public change over time in line with wider societal changes.  This is even more visible on the subject of sustainability which is of growing importance.  In order to be able to anticipate and respond to these changes, organisations need to enhance the skills and experience of their employees, foster the capacity of their organisation to respond to these issues and be able to involve a range of different external groups.

This section therefore looks at the part that people play in embedding sustainability within an organisation.  Establishing a culture that supports and promotes sustainability is as important as developing the right strategy and processes.  Equipping staff with the skills that they need to deliver sustainable outcomes, and using partnerships and wider stakeholder engagement to move towards sustainability are also examined in the modules below.
