  • By adopting a partnership approach to their PFI contract with LS Trillium, DWP and LS Trillium are working together to improve sustainability across the DWP estate.

DWP have entered into a PFI contract with LS Trillium to provide facilities management across the DWP estate. As part of the contract LS Trillium are tasked to devise and implement initiatives to optimise energy consumption and act on behalf of the DWP to procure energy supplies cost effectively. Consumption targets are agreed between LS Trillium and DWP, and LS Trillium is incentivised to meet these targets. The DWP Sustainable Development team assist by:

  • agreeing LS Trillium’s interpretation of energy consumption data to help identify trends and good practice and assist in communicating the findings to users of accommodation;
  • developing a co-ordinated strategy of initiatives to optimise energy consumption;
  • monitoring LS Trillium’s environmental compliance;
  • maintaining an awareness of good practice energy management and environmental house-keeping in other organisations; and
  • agreeing incentives to encourage LS Trillium to implement innovative techniques aimed at optimising energy consumption.
