KCC is integrating climate change and sustainable development into business planning processes through its Climate Change project. Peter Gilroy, Chief Executive of KCC has written to all staff to ask them to include climate change and its implications in their business planning for 2007/08. KCC has allocated new resources in the form of a secondee in from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs who will oversee the integration of sustainable development into Directorate Strategies.

Quote from Peter Gilroy:

I want everyone in the organisation to understand climate change and sustainability issues and demonstrate this understanding in all their decisions, operational plans and options appraisals.

KCC has also developed its own corporate sustainability appraisal tool for use in evaluating the sustainable development impacts of all papers going to Cabinet.
